What is Osteoarthritis? (O.A)

Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease, is the most common type of arthritis. In Osteoarthritis, the surface layer of cartilage to rub together resulting in pain, swelling, and loss of motion in the joint. Although in some people it progresses quickly, in most individuals joint damage develops gradually over years.

How does it work and where do the stem cells come from?

We have options! This treatment does not require fetal sacrifice and recovery is performed with maternal consent during live birth. Placental tissues and cord blood are collected at several facilities around the country following strict guidelines and consistent with industry best practices. Donors are healthy women between ages 18-45 years. A careful medical and social history is collected in advance to ensure mothers meet all eligibility requirements. Cord Blood or the Amniotic Allograft is injected into your joint and the healing process begins. Regenerative medicine cells are sometimes called the “miracle cells” as they can turn into any tissue they need to! This treatment quickly reduces pain, inflammation and swelling of the joint. Most patients compare the treatments to getting a shot at the doctor’s office and report little pain or discomfort.

What is Cord blood and Amniotic Allograft?

Cord blood comes from the rich cells in the umbilical cord that is filled with stem cells.  Amniotic tissue is from the placenta is known to contain stem cells, hyaluronic acid growth factor, cytokines and many more attributes that promote the regrowth of cartilage. As such, following a stem cell joint repair procedure, the injected cells may become specialized for the joint and, over time regenerates the damaged cartilage and other tissue. Results may vary among patients, but many report experiencing pain relief in as little as one week to four months. You may have recently seen many professional athletes in the news using various forms of stem cells to regenerate their bodies following a sports injury (including Super Bowl Champion Peyton Manning). Regenerative therapy regeneration for joint repair is used for acute and chronic injuries, knee meniscal tears, loss of knee joint cartilage and to stop the progression of degenerative arthritis.

When will I feel results?

Most people feel better as quickly as one week and begin enjoying everyday activities within a few days following the treatment. Healing and regeneration continues for several months to a year afterwards, further recovering more function in the joint and supporting tissues.
